Martin's Keys I

My husband was looking at his house key
one day and drew a rough sketch of it,
asking if it would make a nice block. After
working on it, I came up with a workable
block. After rotating the blocks, I discovered
they made a flower and "Martin's Keys" was
created.
Martin's Keys II NFS
This pattern was also done up in turkey
red changing the appearance of the quilt.
Both quilts appeared in McCall's Quilting Magazine.

A Christmas Star

I always wanted a Christmas quilt for the
bed. I call this one my 11 day wonder because 11 days
prior to the Christmas of 1993, I started machine piecing it
using Eleanor Burns' method of making of a Radiant Star.
The binding was put on Christmas Eve. It has machine
quilted feathers in the border and is heavily stippled.

After many years, the quilt pictured on the bed in above picture began to fray so I made a new one.
Same pattern, same colors, yet it looked different. It was then that I discovered the color scheme
was put together differently. When I checked the pattern, the one made years ago was made wrong!! Speak about Amish mistakes!

where a traditional quilt would look out of place so
used flying geese pattern for its simplicity.
