Place the ruler along the diagonal and trim the excess along the ruler as shown.

There are two ways
Measure across the quilt as shown
Repeat vertically.
The Second Way
Place measuring tape from one corner and diagonally to the other. Repeat on other side. Both dimensions should be the same.
